This policy explains what information Nerd Crave (nerdcrave.com) collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect as little as we can, we never sell your information, and you can ask us to delete it.
Information you give us
- Comments: when you comment, we collect the name, email address and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser details to help catch spam. Your email is never shown publicly. If you tick “Save my name, email, and website,” a cookie remembers those details for next time.
- Avatars: comment avatars come from Gravatar. A scrambled version of your email address is sent to Gravatar to check whether you have one.
- Emails to us: if you contact us, we keep your message so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: our host, GoDaddy, keeps standard logs such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, to keep the site running and secure.
- Fonts: our fonts load from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers.
Embedded content
Stories may include videos and posts from YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, TikTok and other sites. Our video players only load YouTube or Vimeo when you press play. Once embedded content loads, it behaves as if you visited that site directly, and that site may collect data about you under its own privacy policy.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies: to remember your comment details (if you choose) and to keep site editors logged in. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it except with the services listed above that help run the site.
How long we keep it
Comments and their details are kept for as long as the comment is published. Server logs are kept for a limited time by our host.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, including your comments. Email contact@nerdcrave.com and we’ll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws, and we’ll honor them.
Changes
If we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top of this page.
