The Defenders are reuniting, Spider-Man is getting his iconic black suit, and Rogue and Gambit are finally heading to the altar!
Marvel Television and Marvel Animation brought plenty of surprises to New York Comic Con 2026. During their October 8 panel at the Javits Center, Marvel unveiled updates on six major Disney+ projects, including Daredevil: Born Again, X-Men ’97, Marvel Zombies, and VisionQuest.
Having attended NYCC myself this year, I couldn’t wait to dig into these reveals. Here’s everything Marvel has in store for fans.
Daredevil: Born Again — The Defenders Are Finally Reuniting!
It’s happening! Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is bringing the Defenders back together, reuniting Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Finn Jones’ Iron Fist, and Mike Colter’s Luke Cage.

Cox, Ritter, and Jones appeared together at NYCC to unveil exclusive footage, including Matt Murdock fighting his way through prison wearing a makeshift mask fashioned from his orange jumpsuit. Colter couldn’t attend, but his return is confirmed.
For fans of the original Netflix series, this reunion has been a long time coming. Unfortunately, there’s a catch: Season 3 will also be the final season of Born Again.
The news was certainly bittersweet, especially when we’re finally getting the gang back together. But if Marvel is closing this chapter, I can’t think of a better way to do it than with the Defenders fighting side by side once again.
Daredevil: Born Again returns to Disney+ in 2027.
X-Men ’97 — The Brotherhood Returns, and Rogue & Gambit Say “I Do!”
Things aren’t getting any easier for mutantkind. Marvel’s exclusive X-Men ’97 Season 3 footage teased mutant registration checkpoints, Sentinels, and the return of Mystique’s Brotherhood of Mutants.
Sounds like we’re heading into some serious Days of Future Past territory!
But the biggest surprise was a much happier announcement: Rogue and Gambit are finally getting married!
After everything these two have endured, this is a moment longtime X-Men fans have been waiting for. And apparently, the guest list is just as exciting, with appearances from She-Hulk, Deadpool, and even Matt Murdock teased in the footage.
Between the growing conflict against mutants and the wedding of one of Marvel’s most beloved couples, Season 3 is already giving us plenty to look forward to.
X-Men ’97 returns in 2027, with Season 4 also in development.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man: The Black Suit Is Back!
Now, this is one I’ve been looking forward to! Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man returns January 13, 2027, and Peter Parker is officially entering his symbiote era.

Marvel’s exclusive footage featured Doctor Octopus crashing a fancy event attended by Harry Osborn and Eddie Brock. During the fight, Peter’s damaged suit begins repairing itself with black material, giving us a glimpse of what’s coming.
The preview also teased Spider-Gwen, Daredevil, Rhino, and Electro!
For anyone who remembers the black-suit storyline from Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3, or even the recent Marvel’s Spider-Man games, you know just how much exciting this storyline can be.
I’ve always found the symbiote fascinating because it doesn’t just make Peter stronger; it can bring out a completely different side of him. And with this series taking place in its own continuity, I’m curious to see what Marvel does differently this time around.
Marvel Zombies – Three More Years of Halloween Horror!
Marvel isn’t finished turning our favorite superheroes into the undead! Marvel Zombies is returning with three new two-part specials, each scheduled for Halloween over the next three years.
Here’s the lineup:
- Marvel Zombies: Winter Soldier — Halloween 2027
- Marvel Zombies: Fist of Khonshu — Halloween 2028
- Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian — Halloween 2029

Winter Soldier will finally reveal what Bucky Barnes was doing during the original series, while Fist of Khonshu has me wondering whether we’ll see more of that wild Blade and Moon Knight mythology.
But The Last Guardian is the one that really has me curious. Are we talking about the last surviving Guardian of the Galaxy? And if so, who could it possibly be?
I’m all for Marvel turning this into an annual Halloween tradition. Give us a different corner of the zombie apocalypse every year, especially if it means seeing more unexpected heroes fighting to survive!
Zodiac – Is S.H.I.E.L.D. Making a Comeback?
Marvel also announced Zodiac, a new live action spy thriller heading to Disney+ in 2028, with production scheduled to begin in 2027.

The studio hasn’t revealed much about the story, but comic fans might recognize the name. Zodiac has appeared throughout Marvel Comics as a villainous organization whose members take their identities from the twelve astrological signs.
Here’s where things get interesting: the newly revealed logo appears to feature a S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem hidden within its design.
Could this mean a return to the world of Nick Fury and Marvel’s espionage stories? Maybe even a connection to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
Nothing’s confirmed, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Marvel explore its spy-thriller roots again. Sometimes secret organizations, double agents, and a good conspiracy are just as entertaining as another world-ending supervillain.
VisionQuest – Ultron Returns, and Vision Faces His Past
Marvel saved VisionQuest for the end of its presentation, bringing Paul Bettany and James Spader onstage alongside showrunner Terry Matalas and several cast members. Attendees even got a surprise screening of the first episode!

The series concludes the story that began in WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along. Vision, now rebuilt and searching for his purpose, finds himself consulting the artificial intelligences connected to his programming, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., and Ultron.
And yes, James Spader is back!
I always thought Ultron had more potential than what we got in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Seeing him return opposite Vision, whose very existence is tied to Ultron’s creation, opens the door to some interesting storytelling.

The series also introduces Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious young man who may be connected to Vision’s lost family. Between that relationship and Ultron’s return, it looks like Vision will have plenty to confront while figuring out who he really is.
VisionQuest premiered October 14, 2026, and its first two episodes are now streaming on Disney+.
Which Marvel Reveal Has You Most Excited?
Between Spider-Man’s symbiote storyline, the return of Ultron, three more years of Marvel Zombies, and the possibility of S.H.I.E.L.D. making a comeback, Marvel has quite a lineup ahead.
Personally, I like that these projects aren’t all trying to tell the same kind of superhero story. Now it’s a matter of seeing which ones deliver.
Which announcement are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!
